Redesigning Igloo ice cream box
We were required to choose a product that is well known in the GCC or the Middle East that could use an update to their packaging design. The existing package form and size can stay the same or the whole product could be redesigned. There should be three outcomes of the one design, and product photography for the product.
The product that I chose was Igloo Ice Cream one of the leading ice cream brands in the U.A.E. I chose tho redesign their single serve ice cream cups and decided to take a more fun and minimal approach to attract new costumers and as well old ones.
The first concept I came up with I made the box be in a unique shape almost like an igloo and would be made out of liquid packaging board to be able
to withstand the potential damages that can be cause by melted ice cream, and so it can be easily discarded after the ice cream is consumed.
The colours that were chosen for each flavour was based on the colour scheme that was known to each flavor. The penguin was redesigned in a more minimal way to make it less distracting to the eye compare to before. The melting top has another meaning, throwing shade to how climate change is melting the ice at an alarming rate.
After receiving feedback from the first concept I went back to my original idea of using a tub, instead of the unique shape. The typeface that was used was Avenier, in medium
and heavy. I changed that nutritional facts so it was different than the usual. I also included a label sticker on top, so people can easily identify the flavour when viewing it from the top if it were stacked on top of each other.
