Sad Eye
Digital Relief Print by Scott E. Franson
Hundreds of years of tradition exist for relief printing. In the image "Sad Eye" I am using the traditions and thinking processes of relief printing in a digital format. I created a layer for each individual color using Procreate on my iPad. Then I transferred the file to Adobe Photoshop where I added the brayer texture and explored different color combinations. The background paper is chipboard from the back of a drawing pad. Then the next layer is an opaque white so that the layers above it don't mix with the dark chipboard.
I am continuing to work on understanding the opacity/transparency of printing inks and how they mix when layered.
