This series is both personal and public. I’m photographing middle class white “girls” in their twenties as they are poised between childhood and adulthood, public and private, innocence and experience. This is a time when we celebrate risk, worship our youth, and indulge in exhibitionism while discovering who we are along the way. Through material presence, these images seek to reflect on the inner self as the emerging awareness of adult responsibilities surface. This serves as a portrait of a time, a time that I specifically have access to, that time is now.
